I love the tools, the paper, the embellishments but most of all the photos. Snapshots really, not fancy digitally enhanced portraits – but good old fashioned snapshots. Sure I try and get the right light, pose and setting but at the end of the day I just want to capture the moment and move on so that I can experience and BE in the moment!
I scrapbook my photos using papers, embellishments , colours, textures and patterns I like – not what is necessarily trendy or en vogue. After all, these are my pages, for my family to enjoy and remember. These scrapbooks are what I wish my grandmother had made and left for me. I hope someday my daughter treasures them but if not – that’s okay. I am doing this as my hobby, my past time, my stress relieve.
I scrapbook as a way to “turn-off” my brain after a busy day – it is not my job – it is my release. So it’s okay to me if I copy someone else’s design or page layout. After all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If you don’t want your design copied then don’t put it out there but since you did – I will use it to inspire, prompt and encourage me to keep making my pages.
I am a scrapbooker with my own likes and dislikes, style and voice. I post pages on my blog to share and maybe inspire someone else, but if they don’t that’s okay, because at the end of the day I am recording my memories and thoughts and am happy to be able to do so because I am a Scrapbooker.
